Liturgy of the Word
1st READING read by Matt Cain: Ecclesiastes 3: 1-13 New International Version (NIV)A Time for Everything.
There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens:
2 a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
3 a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
4 a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
5 a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,
6 a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,
7 a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,
8 a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace.
9 What do workers gain from their toil? 10 I have seen the burden God has laid on the human race. 11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet[a] no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end. 12 I know that there is nothing better for people than to be happy and to do good while they live. 13 That each of them may eat and drink, and find satisfaction in all their toil—this is the gift of God.

2nd READING read by Mari Borkowski: 1 Corinthian: 13 New International Version (NIV)
13 If I speak in the tongues[a] of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast,[b] but do not have love, I gain nothing.
4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10 but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears. 11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. 12 For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.
13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
GOSPEL read by Father Biju Daniel Varghese: Mark 10: 13-16. New International Version (NIV)
The Little Children and Jesus
13 People were bringing little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them, but the disciples rebuked them. 14 When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. 15 Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” 16 And he took the children in his arms, placed his hands on them and blessed them.

Prayers of the Faithful read by Amy Despars:
The gift of life, which we share, is very precious. Lord, make us more aware of the gifts and talents you have given us, particularly those that we so often take for granted. May we use them to make the world a better place.
We Pray to the Lord:
R. Lord, hear our prayer
For families and individuals who are facing struggles of all kinds, that they may be supported and given hope, by your presence and the presence of the community around them.
We pray to the Lord:
For the friends and family of Matteo, that they might continue to be nurtured by the mutual joy and respect that they shared with him and that they will love each other as Matteo loved them.
We pray to the Lord:
R. Lord, hear our prayer.
We give thanks for the family, friends, nurses, doctors, and priests who have supported and prayed for Matteo and his family. May they find peace and comfort knowing the Coffey family is forever grateful for all of the love and care they have received.
R. Lord hear our prayer.
For all of us here today to celebrate the life of Matteo and worship in faith, that we may be gathered together again in God’s kingdom.
We Pray to the Lord:
R. Lord, hear our prayer.
For strength to teach our children how to resolve difference respectfully and for the courage to model in our own behavior how to love and respect one another through our differences.
We pray to the Lord:
R. Lord, hear our prayer

CLAUDIA:
Matteo’s accident is by far the most difficult journey we have ever experienced. Although words in no way match exactly how amazing our sweet Matteo is and words cannot in any way compare to how deeply in love we are with him, we will nonetheless try our best to express how we feel. As you know Matteo is our 4th child and is loved so much by big sister Mya, big brothers Michael & Kingston. Originally, our life plan was to have 3 children, but God gave us Matteo as a precious gift and we cherish him so dearly, we wouldn’t have life any other way. We would do this Life again with Matteo, even if we knew the outcome. It is no coincidence that his name Matteo, whose true meaning is “Gift From God” was in fact a gift. His name was called out to me and we are so blessed to have been chosen to be Matteo’s parents, not to forget he is an amazing brother.
KELLY:
I was asked at our marriage retreat.
“Why do you want to bring children into this cruel world?”
I was startled at first not knowing how to answer.
I said “I understand why you are afraid to bring children into our world given what we see in the media”, I told her,
“I am a good person and I look at my wife and she is a good person. Together, I know we will create more love in this world and when we have children, we will love them so they make the world a better place.”
CLAUDIA:
Matteo is a really cool big boy. The guy knows pop music better than his parents. We have a lot of musical instruments and Matteo would play on his own for hours. He loves playing sports with family and friends.
As you all know, we like to have friends and family over to our home frequently and Matteo benefited from all of these relationships. He had friends with people of all ages.
KELLY:
He knows how to treat girls with respect with his open loving nature. I would call him a flirt, but he would say “No Dad, I am Matteo”
All of you contributed in making this amazing boy flourish to his full potential. We thank all of you.
CLAUDIA:
In our family Mya and Matteo shared many happy moments When we went boating He enjoyed when tubing behind our boat with Mya’s arms around him, keeping him safe and secure. While going to the snow Mya thought he was so cute when he would fall and face plant in the snow and instead of crying he started rolling around laughing.
KELLY:
Matteo, being a rough and tumble boy, had a weakness for miniature porcelain tea sets. Matteo would sneak into Mya’s room and borrow her tea set, which he carefully handled to prepared a tea party. After many months of sneaking, Mya gave the set to Matteo to his delight. It became one of his prized possessions. Weekly, he would pull it out and ask anyone if we wanted to have some tea with him. He always like doing things with other people.
CLAUDIA:
Matteo was so proud of Micheal playing soccer and wanted to play soccer to be just like him. At every game, sitting on Claudia’s lap, he would yell out, “Go Michael Go” at least 20 times a game.
Michael told us Matteo would continually ask him to let him play video games with Michael’s Friends and would let him. He impressed how good Matteo played.
KELLY:
Michael’s favorite memories of Matteo are when he would randomly say something funny to him like “I’m hungry, I’m thirsty, I’m Batman.” Or “John Cena! Da, Da, Da, Da” He made us retake so many family photos since he constantly Dabbed in every picture and we wanted to see his face.
CLAUDIA:
Matteo loves his older brother Kingston and was happiest when they would play Minecraft together making worlds and sharing treasures. They would do parkour in our house or around town, they would play hide in seek throughout the house and backyard; along with making forts from the furniture in the house. Matteo enjoyed wrestling or playing dog pile with his two older brothers in our living room while we yelled for them to stop but the boys all just giggled and laughed.
KELLY:
It makes me so happy and I love to teach all my children to ski. Last year we enrolled him in ski school and afterwards he returned with confidence telling us what he learned in class, “take small steps, take small steps.” I got to take him up on the chair lift a few times and Matteo went straight down the hill, while I anxiously chased him down to the bottom where he would ask to do it again and we would.
He brought more happiness and love to our home. He would sneak into our bedroom at night and slip in between Claudia and I while we slept so when we woke he would be snuggled up against us.
Every week we would go to Sushi where he ordered his favorite meal. On these outings I would ask for him to hold my hand for safety and he always grabbed it without hesitation. The touch of his hand in my hand as we walked is something I will miss.
CLAUDIA:
Matteo always lit up the room, just like Mya, Kingston and Michael do all in their own very special way. Matteo is our musician, singer and dancer who always brightened up our day with his endless smiles and positive energy. He taught me how to stop what I was doing and just dance & sing. He taught me how to stop my chores and play for a while. He always said to me, come play with me and he wouldn’t give up on me. I did end up pushing him on the swings and playing legos, puzzles, reading books and more whenever he asked and I am so very happy he did not give up on me, because now I have those amazing precious moments to reflect on and I can see his face right now as if he were here. If it wasn’t for those moments, I would truly be lost. With that said, I hope you cherish your children and know we are only given so much time that is not in our control.
CLAUDIA:
God only allows us so many
opportunities with our children.
To read a s tory
Play with them
Hear their thoughts
Say pr ayers together
Hug them before bed
Tell them you love them
Tell them they are good and kind
TRY NOT TO MISS OUT ON THIS TIME
KELLY:
We love you Matteo. There is no doubt in our mind about where you are now. We know 100% that you are here with us in spirit and in your heavenly home. We thank you for all your magical messages that you have delivered to us since your passing… and there were many is so many different ways. Thank you Matteo you are amazing,
WE LOVE YOU FOREVER.
